Lucy has really started cooing and smiling much more lately. This past week grandpuppy and grammy got the best vocalizations from Lucy. She had a blast sitting there smiling up at them. In this video Lucy is also wearing the party dress that her grandpuppy bought for her.

Are you ready for some football?
Last weekend we were in Chicago and our friends Mary and Dino surprised us with a Chicago Bears cheerleading uniform for little Lucy. Mary is hoping that Lucy will grow up to be a cheerleader :)
Here is another Bears outfit given to us by Aunt Kristin and Uncle Eric. Lucy was all decked out in her Bears gear for opening day. As many of you know Don and I are crazy Bears fan (and Lucy is one in the making). We were so psyched for the beginning of the season to start. We were ready with our game faces on, but unfortunately someone forgot to tell the Bears players to get ready for some football. It looks like we are destined to go through yet another season of a defense plagued with injuries and a quarterback controversy to boot. Oh well, we are used to it by now...

Babysitting
Kristin and Eric babysat Lucy for us while we attended a wedding in Chicago. Our friends Monica and Todd got married and it was a lovely wedding! Lucy is wearing a onesie that says "I love my auntie and uncle Flores." This is the onesie that I made for Kristin and Eric when I told them that I was pregnant. I put the onesie on our Maltese, Kailey, and had her stroll into the room to share the news. It is fun now to see Lucy wear it.

Lucy meets Chicago friends
After our Labor Day weekend in Kewaunee we drove back to Chicago. I spent a week with my family and visiting with friends, while Don was at a conference in Atlanta. I was really excited to introduce Lucy to my wonderful friend Emily. I just know that Lucy is going to be good friends with Emily's daughter, Eleanor, who is 8 months old. Eleanor is so cute and played very contentedly while Lucy was a fussy pants. It was one of those nights where I just couldn't figure out what she needed. Here are Lucy and Eleanor together. I am hoping that Lucy stays a little peanut and is Eleanor's size when she is her age.
My dear friend Casey, who I have known since high school, came over to my parent's house to meet Lucy Rae. We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends to share in our joy.
Lucy and I went to breakfast with Monica and Christina (my friends from graduate school). It was fun to introduce them to Lucy. She hung in there pretty well considering how busy of a week we had.
Lucy and I went to visit Kathy and Megan (Kim's friends from high school) at Kathy's new beautiful condo in the west loop. Her condo is in a great location-right near the Sears Tower. Lucy was dressed up in a cute romper that Kathy bought for her. We had fun just hanging out and catching up.

Trip to Kewaunee, WI
Over Labor Day weekend we drove to Kewaunee, WI to my parent's lake cottage. It was pretty comical squeezing into our tiny Honda Civic with both dogs and Lucy. We had a lot of fun in Kewaunee-playing games, going golfing, relaxing, eating, and more eating. The highlight of the trip was that Lucy's great grandpa Irv (my father's father) and my cousin's son, Deion, drove from Minnesota to meet Lucy. Here we are with a four generation family picture!
Kristin, Eric, Don and I had a fun outing going golfing one afternoon while grandma and grandpa watched Lucy for us. I use the term "golfing" very loosely as I was more focused on racing our golf cart around the course than I was on hitting any balls.
We finally were able to capture a picture of her smiling. I can't tell you how many shots we took before we were able to capture this darling expression. I never knew how much my heart would just soar when she smiles at us. I know I sound so cheesy.
Uncle Eric loves to snuggle with his little niece. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful loving families that are just as crazy about Lucy as we are!!

Photo shoot
Aunt Kristin's friend, who is a professional photographer, did a photo shoot of Lucy when we were in Chicago and took some fantastic photos. Here is just one of them, and some more can be found on her blog at
