What took me so long to check out Storyville?

This is a picture of Lucy watching her favorite DVD "Classical Baby." It is the only show we let her watch (for now at least). If we let her she would watch it 10 times a day, but we limit it to a couple times a week. It is a highlight of her week! She likes to name the animals when they come on the screen. It is pretty cute! Still watching "Classical Baby..." Notice how she is holding her baby, stuffed bear, and blankie. We refer to these as her three "friends" and whenever she picks up one she has to have all three at a time. Sometimes I wish we had started by giving her ten "friends" just to see how funny it would look with her balancing all of them in her arms.
So last weekend we went to Storyville which is part of the Rosedale Public Library. They have created an entire town with different areas, educational toys, and books for kids to explore. There was a "fishing" area, a grocery store, an outdoor garden, stocked kitchen, and tons of toys. It was such a great place (and free) and Lucy had a blast exploring. I just don't know why we haven't made it there before. Here she was going for a ride in a little boat.
She was looking back at me like, "Mom would you quit taking all those pictures, I am trying to play."
Anyone need to be rung up?

She was disappointed to find out that the fruit was plastic.

She is at the stage where she loves to name different kinds of food, so the produce area was a hit. You can see that she likes to hoard bananas.

Lucy you are supposed to build with the blocks, not chew on them!

Dinner Escapades

Last weekend we went out to dinner with Laurie and Craig. It was actually quite the adventure because there was only one highchair in the restaurant and it was of course being occupied. So Lucy spent the majority of the dinner moving all over our booth, putting her hands in our water glasses, and trying to talk to the people next to us. Lucy was thrilled to do dinner without a highchair, we on the other hand were not so thrilled. It was quite an experience to say the least. Thank goodness Craig and Laurie are so very understanding and patient. Next time we are going to make sure we pick a place that has more highchairs (that is if Craig and Laurie will still go out to eat with us).

Last Sunday Lisa and Ryan came over to watch the Bears game. They brought lots of goodies and in true Chicago spirit came dressed in Bears colors. Lucy slept through the entire game which was awesome, but they were able to get some play time in with Lucy after her nap. We had a very enjoyable afternoon except for the fact that the game was the worst one of the season.

Lucy's First Haircut

Last week Lucy received her first haircut. Well, kind of. She had her bangs slightly trimmed since they were always in her face. Her mom couldn't bear to do anything more dramatic than slight trim.

Final Little Piggy Post

OK so I know that most of you must be so over all my Halloween/Autumn posts, but I had to end with one last tribute to our Halloween festivities. When my sister, Eric, and Milo were in town two weekends ago we had a blast dressing up the little cousins. Milo was the cutest goldfish you have ever seen and that is really saying something coming from me--given my particular aversion to fish. Don went as Mr. Potato Head (an oldie, but goodie costume that he has had for years). We celebrated the day of Halloween by attending an event at a local park and then we walked around Fells Point. During our visit, we did lots of other fun things together; we went to the apple orchard again (last time for the season), we went to brunch, to a Halloween party, and just hung out. It was so fun to see how Lucy and Milo were both so much more aware of each other. Lucy was so curious about Milo and by the end of the weekend she was saying his name over and over again.

Lucy is going in for the kill, but Maria isn't quite sure what to make of it.

Kissing Cousins

My sister, Eric, and Milo were in town this past weekend. Lucy really took to Milo and was very interested in the little guy. I will post more pictures later but for now here is a glimpse of their "bonding." Lucy just didn't want to leave him alone, she was completely smitten.
