Lil' Peacock

So Don and I have totally become "those" parents. You know the ones-the kind that look for any excuse to show off their kids in their Halloween costumes. Our gallivanting began last Saturday when we went to a Halloween Lantern parade at our local park and then to our neighbor's Halloween party. And last Sunday we went to a parade organized by local moms. The parade was a lot of fun and their were some really cute kids costumes. Here is a picture of Lucy with her friend Gibson, the octopus, at the parade.

We had a lot of fun with Lucy's costume this year. Tonight we went to a costume contest at a local neighborhood called Fell's Point. She didn't win, but we had a lot of fun looking at all the kids costumes.

Pumpkin Head

Kim had this brilliant idea: why don't we get a pumpkin, carve it and stick her in it? Sounded cute...and tortuous. So begins our quest to get that perfect Halloween shot. Good thing Craig and Laurie were there to help.

How about this one? She looks sooo happy.

Getting better...Yipee!

Let's try it outside! Where's daddy and how is she staying upright like that?

Good enough.

This the video we shot while trying to get things to work. The only thing that soothed her was the taste of that yummy cold, wet, and raw pumpkin. Happy Halloween!

The Bears Demise

Yesterday prior to watching the Bears game this was Lucy's expression. You can see the joyful anticipation as she eagerly awaits an exciting game between the division rivals, the Detroit Lions. Lucy even put on her Bears onesie and Bears jumpsuit to get in the spirit of things.

And then the game began and this was her expression as she watched the Bears season crash and burn....

Fall Days

People have been inquiring as to how I have been doing now that I am back to work. I have adjusted reasonably well to the new part time schedule. It is so difficult to leave her in the morning, but I find that I appreciate my time off with her so much more. However, I remain convinced that one of these days I am going to walk out of my office and forget to button my blouse after pumping. The things we go through for our kids! Here is Lucy wearing one of her favorite autumn dresses. Don dressed her this morning and was pretty proud of himself for putting together such a nice look.

Chilling in her froggie onesie. She was also wearing froggie slippers to match (although you can't see them in this shot)

Last weekend we went to another pumpkin farm. We really get into fall activities at our house. Basically it was an excuse to buy an apple pie and dress Lucy up in her Halloween outfit.

Here is Lucy and our good friend, Laurie. Lucy loves hanging out with Laurie, Craig and their dog, Stella. I don't know who looks cuter, Laurie or Lucy!

Pumpkin Patch

Lucy continues to enjoy sitting in her Bumbo chair. I think she likes the new views that this position offers her. It must get awfully boring to laying on your back all day long. She particularly likes watching the Bears from her chair.

She has also started squealing with delight on occasion. Usually in response to mom or dad making a funny face at her. I was lucky enough to get a picture of one of her laughs.

The weekend of October 12th my sister and her husband came in town to visit with their little niece. Visits from family are definitely a highlight for us these days. We tried to do some fall oriented activities. We went to a pumpkin farm, took some pictures of Lucy with the pumpkins, and ate apples with pumpkin butter. Don also made some of his "famous" spiced cider and I made pumpkin bread. It might have been hot in Baltimore, but we felt the crisp autumn breeze in our hearts :)

Rolling Around

Lucy can hold her head up 90 degrees now when she is on her tummy. She used to hate tummy time, but is able to tolerate it a little better these days. Before she used to keep her head buried in the ground, but now she lifts it up more to enjoy the view. Lucy loves sitting in her Bumbo chair. She also has become disinterested in her pacifier lately and prefers to suck on her hand these days (which results in significantly more drool all over the place).

Last night Lucy rolled over for the first time and we actually were able to catch it on video. Sorry for the naked baby shot, but I thought it was OK since infancy is the only life stage where she can get away with showing her goods to the public.

Comfy in Baltimore

We received this lovely afghan from our friend Laurie's mom, Susan Steinberg. It matches Lucy's room so beautifully and she just loves pulling on the little puffy balls. Doesn't Lucy's dress match the afghan perfectly? Thanks to all our family and friends who have been so generous with gifts for little Lucy. It really is overwhelming how thoughtful everyone has been.
Here is Lucy with our friend Craig (Laurie's hubby) hanging out at our house. She looks pretty comfy in his arms!

Little Swimmer

This is a video of Lucy's first time at the gym pool. She was rather stunned and calm the whole time - I guess we were hoping that she would be having a blast - but at least she didn't dislike it. Of course, I had to show off her cute little swim suit.

Puppy and Grammy Visit

This past week my parents (aka grammy and puppy) came in town to visit. Don was at a prostate cancer conference in Dublin, Ireland so they came to Baltimore to help out. It was a very busy week. One that seemed to be filled with changes in Lucy. She is starting to make purposeful movements with her hands and she likes to be carried around facing outward now. My mom tells me that she is a lot like I was in that she always wants to be a part of the action. I went back to work on Monday, which was really difficult. I spent the morning crying my eyes out. I was not prepared for how hard it would be to leave her. I am only working part-time and still it feels like a lot of time away from her. I am sure I will adjust eventually. I am so thankful to my parents for all their assistance. The week before going back to work is stressful for any new mom, but they made it much easier.
