Nail Clipper Debacle

Usually when we trim down Lucy's fingernails we use a file. This time we tried a clipper. The dummy-proof baby kind. We ended up clipping off a small part of Lucy's fingertip as well as her nail. Fortunately she was a big girl and it has since healed.

We're not sure when we will try the clippers again...

OH NO! My worst nightmare!
It is terrible. My kids nails grow so quickly, and if I don't keep them trimmed they scratch me or themselves. But it is so hard to trim them without cutting them too short.
Poor little Lucy. I'm sure she won't hold it against you.

I can't believe you actually admitted this on your blog! :) I saw no battle scars when we were in town...no worries!

She looks fine to me! All smiles. I am sure it hurt you more than it hurt her.

i've never filed jillian's nails. no patience for it (not for me, nor baby). i clipped a little skin when she was like 2 weeks old. Oh, she flinched so fierce, it was so sad. it made me think of the pain a baby goes through when they are aborted. i know you don't want me to mention that on your blog, but it was my first thought. so sad.
anyway, i've been extremely careful ever since...oh...and I wouldn't recommend the safety clippers. no visibility.

Jenna, I wish you had told me about the safety clippers before I used them :) You are totally right though, it is impossible to see. I am blaming the whole situation on the safety clippers rather than an erroneous act on my behalf.

Don't worry, you are not the only one that has done that. I'm sad to say, I've done that to all three of my kids. It's like a right of passage in our household. It's just so hard to clip those tiny things!!!

You are so funny. I love the bandage and I love you both in the tub with her. Who took the picture? That close up of her in the bath is great. She is starting to look like you guys. ~Em
